US Congress Showing Support For Hong Kong Protesters

There is now growing support in the US Congress for action to support the protesters in Hong Kong, effectively cautioning China to take it easy on them. Legislation is moving through the House and Senate that would require annual checks on the city to assess its autonomous standing. Beijing will be judged under a unique treatment under US law.

According to an article on Bloomberg news, attributed to Daniel Flatley, the US leadership is now talking. Marco Rubio, the presidential hopeful in 2016 said that, “it is my belief that it is long overdue for the United States and the free world to respond.” The Foreign Ministry in China urged the US to stop interfering with internal affairs Hong Kong. The US is suggesting that protesters are being arrested and tortured while China says their civil rights are respected.
