Reshoring is the practice of bringing manufacturing and production for homegrown companies back to the country of origin – and it is happening around Asia. Many firms that have home offices in Taiwan have recently triggered a real estate boom in this island country near mainland China as the Trump driven Trade War with China has resulted in firms bringing production back home. Currently there is a limited supply of offices and buildings in Taiwan and with the increase in prices of running businesses in China, the exodus has started. Some firms feel that repatriating to Taiwan are of course the locals but note that in October, Taiwan approved a $850 million plan to open expand a data center while Facebook is opening an office for its new Taiwan headquarters.
