The US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi accused the Attorney General William Barr of lying to congress and this of course has caused a firestorm in Washington DC. Her comments came one day after AG Barr gave a testimony to a Senate panel about the Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his report that alleged Russians meddled in the US election.
Some are now claiming that AG Barr is protecting the President and he has been discredited by these actions – we at Classiarius believe it must be looked into and discussed.
The top US law official refused to testify to Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee on Thursday. This explosion by Pelosi comes after Barr said the the was not aware of any disagreements from Mueller on his 4 page presentation on the Mueller Report. The Department of Justice fired back at Ms Pelosi saying that the Pelosi comments were reckless and false. Republicans also condemned the remarks as they called them offensive statements.
Pelosi continues to keep this story alive and moving forward, but the idea of collusion and obstruction is starting to look like a political story that really has no conclusion and in fact, could continue for another two years into the 2020 election – again, this may be an election issue that will be a key talking point in the debates.
