Currently, the team at Microsoft is suing a mysterious group of North Korean hackers for allegedly stealing “highly sensitive information” from computers in the United States. The lawsuit, according to sources, points out a “cybertheft operation” that has worked to gain access to high value networks in the name of Thallium – specifically it was targeting government employees. Apparently, Microsoft is asking for companies that host website domains associated with Thallium to hand over control of the sites.
Although the details are still not clear, experts in the cyber community are indicating that all evidence points to North Korean groups. More specifically, this group has been targeting individuals with a mission to gain their passwords and other sensitive information. Some look-alike websites that appear to be Microsoft based are used to entice government and private workers with Pyongyang as the real source of the platforms. One can think he or she is working on a Microsoft platform that is in fact, fake.
