NJ Labor Day Parade Canceled Over Explosives Placed Nearby

The annual Labor Day parade to be held in South Planefield, New Jersey was canceled due to concerns about a homemade explosive device found near the parade route in a wooded area. Scheduled to march in the parade were New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and his wife, Tammy in the 62nd annual parade, note that no one was injured or threatened. This could be a misunderstanding as a man who makes fireworks left some of his firework-like products on his property near the scheduled start area so police were cautious and worked with authorities to cancel the event.

The property owner, Thomas G. Kaiser was arrested on several charges including of possession of a destructive device for an unlawful purpose – he is still in custody according to reports. The investigation started when police found an explosive device at Donovans Reef, a restaurant at Sea Bright, which guided investigators to the home of Mr Kaiser. Police are still working on the investigation and more charges may be handed out to the man arrested.
