The Volusia Country Sheriff reported that threats of mass violence was the rationale for arresting a man who sent several text messages stating that he wanted to “break the world record for longest confirmed kill ever.” This was before this man, according to an article on ABC News, said that he wanted to reach 100 victims but had not decided on a location. This type of insanity is what the US is now experiencing in our view and such irrational comments should be met with arrests and stiff punishments. This man, according to sources is 25-year old Tristan Scott Wix of Daytona Beach who sent several messages with these scary comments.
It was not exactly clear who Wix was texting as police did not discuss these facts but authorities are now saying that the arrest was made at a supermarket in Daytona Beach Shores and he was charged with making written threats to kill. The sheriff said that Wix pointed out that he did not own any firearms but he was fascinated with mass shootings. This is, in our view, a comment that can only cause hate issues in a otherwise civil society. Jail records did not list an attorney for Wix but it is clear that he will spend some time behind bars to reflect on his comments.
Like the post-9/11 world when the entire planet was nervous about flying and swift action was taken in flight at at airports, the current environment with regards to guns in society, will be much the same. Make a comment about guns and it will be taken seriously.
