The US House voted, in a clear majority, to impeach President Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. The vote marked the third time in US history that the full chamber has carried out this task. There are two specific charges against Trump: the allegation is that he held back aid to the Ukraine in order to pressure leadership in Kiev to conduct an investigation on Joe Baiden and his son, then of course there is the second in which Trump is said to have engaged in obstruction of Congress. The US Persident has insulted the lawmakers leading the probe and some have had their feelings hurt, which some now say is their personal vendetta against him. Trump said of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that her actions were “an illegal, partisan attempted coup.” Trump has given a blanket directive not to testify but more than a dozen current and former national security officials, career public servants and others have agreed to give testimony under oath. This impeachment could backfire and cost Pelosi her position as Speaker of the House.
