There are growing concerns about violence, the protests could get worse.
The police have started to prepare for more protests in Hong Kong, making statements that they cannot ensure public safety as violence is now escalating and at the more recent protests. A very popular pro-democracy march organized by the Civil Human Rights Front, had its protest plans banned. Concerns are rising that the government will send in troops and these protests will become even more violent and but still there are some areas in the city in which protests are being approved.
In our opinion this is a strategic move which allows the government to not confront the protesters directly and gives the masses an outlet to vent their troubles – most feel the the gap between the Hong Kong billionaires and the workers is what is really causing these protests. In short, more economic than political.
