Recent protests by the Yellow Vests have prompted “red scarves” and “blue vests” counter movements to protest the violence brought on by protesters and police alike. The aggressive police response is a new development in the movement as it moves into two months of non-stop protests. Now French police are investigating injuries and wondering just when will the aggressive fade.
Near the Bastille monument a protester suffered a horrific eye injury – Mr Jerome Rodrigues is his name. It seems that the number of injuries is rising and the police are not able to control the volume of protesters in the streets. Some police have in fact, sided with the protesters. But the throwing of projectiles in Paris has increased as some of the new protesters are even attacking the press. They are holding the press accountable for misleading the public.
Sunday saw a new movement of counter-demonstrators in Paris, one called the “red scarves” and the other called the “blue vests” who were there to protest violence. The non-stop protests are defying President Macron as they are not leaving the streets and he is not able to defuse public discontent. On the 11th consecutive weekend, 70,000 people took to the streets including 4,000 in Paris. It was estimated to be down from 84,000 across the country on Saturday.
