Hamza bin Laden, son of the former al-Qaida leader Osama bin Ladi, is believed to be dead, according to US officials. A senior US official confirmed that the son has died but did not give details on how he died or if the US had participated in the death. Hamza bin Laden was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 1989, according to the FBI, and was one of more than 20 children the elder bin Laden is believed to have had. Note that the father was killed by US Navy SEALs, in Pakistan in 2011, and it was believed that Hamza bin Laden emerged as a “key leader” in the organization, according to sources.
Our Views: It is now clear that the hunt for bin Laden took about 10 years and was a key project driven by President Obama, after President Bush stopped the search for the leader. It is now said that with ISIS, and about 20 radical organizations have filled the gap in global terror. Support for these organizations comes from a broad range of political sources. Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and others have been banned in many Middle Eastern states.
