Fake News and Now Fake News Anchor – China

Fake News and Now Fake News Anchor - China

We have seen fake news, fake stories and even unbelievable news anchors in every country that reports news but we are now seeing the first AI or artificial intelligence new anchor. At the World Internet Conference in the eastern Zhejiang Province, China introduced an English AI news anchor that looks very life-like. This AI news anchor is modeled after Zhang Zhao, a new presenter, and learns by watching news every day. This new anchor can work 24 hours a day, never rests, and delivers news on both TV and the Internet.

There is concern that the growing AI industry will include loss of jobs and unintended discrimination – but research groups have stated that they expect jobs to be created from AI in 2019 and 2020. Xinhua developed the robot anchor with a Chinese search engine called Soug0u.com which is also connected to and reports on its Twitter feed.

This AI news anchor promised to work tirelessly to keep the public informed as texts will typed into his feed continuously – again updating 24 hour a day. The AI anchor went on to say that it will bring brand new news experiences. It would be interesting to know,  just how MSNBC, CNN and BBC will embrace these new technologies in the future. More in AI in the coming weeks.
