Despite the ongoing concerns about a Trade War triggered US recession, the number of jobs created in November was 226,000, a number that was well above economists expectations. Even when we drill down into the report, the 54,000 new jobs created by the manufacturing sector was impressive. Note that for decades the discussion by previous presidents was that manufacturing jobs would never return to the US once they have left.
Market expectations for this November jobs report was 187,000, and even this was an optimistic number. Also the unemployment level was 3.5%, the lowest figure since 1969, while African Americans, Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans are seeing record levels of jobs and employment. Of course, these numbers are strong and surely give President Trump more confidence when dealing with China in trade negotiations.
