In an article on CNBC by Alex Sherman, 25 April, 2018, Apple made some generational announcement that has emphasized the service business, something that Apple has been talking about for years. This past Monday, Apple made it official, it does have strong interest in these new lines of business but it did not give details so many analysts are wondering just what to do with this information.
CEO Tim Cook started his presentation in the Steve Jobs Theater by telling the audience what the word “services” actually means to him and the company. If Apple Version 1 was the Macintosh computer, and Version 2 was the mobile hardware from iPod to iPhone then Apple Version 3 will be the line of services the company wants to provide. With the sales of iPhone slowing in China and pressure from rivals, the 2 year discussion by Tim Cook will surely be noticed as analysts and consumers alike are looking to Apple for more details on the future of the company. Still many feel that Tim Cook is the right guy to lead the company down this new path.
Apple will have existing streaming services on Apple TV and Apple News+ will offer content. Other than these two there were not a lot of details offered from Mr Cook but there are armies of people who are eager to see that the new line up of products, and services are on the offer. The news will be from the Wall Street Journal and other sources, we know this much.
