International organizations have fallen out of love with the mystique of Myanmar and Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Peace Prize winner. The current government has engineered a bloody crackdown with the result of pushing 740,000 Rohingya Muslims back to Bangladesh. The Muslim population in Myanmar has exploded over the past 40 years as migrants have crossed the border in waves.
Amnesty said Wednesday that it has “new evidence” that Myanmar and its military have committed human rights violations and that there is evidence of ethnic and religious discrimination. According to Amnesty, the Rakhine State has seen new operations from the more aggressive elements of the military. Myanmar Border Guard Police (GBP) have been active in villages in what some say are operators to clear out terrorists.

There is talk of extrajudicial killings and human rights violations which the government denies, while Aung San Suu Kyi`s government has said it will “crush” terrorists and prevent them from attacks on civilians living on the border with Bangladesh. Ms Aung San Suu Kyi will not be stripped of her Nobel Prize despite the current issues that have taken place while she governs Myanmar.
