The attack on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia that temporarily shout down oil production of the kingdom was an act of war according to speakers at the Doha forma in Qatar. There is growing fear of a regional conflict with the September 14 attack allegedly carried out by Iran with precision missile that were long-range and highly accurate.
There are some leaders in the region that are concerned that the conflict is just one missile away from taking place as Saudi Arabia and Iran are building massive military arsenals, and because Saudi Arabia is the weaker power, they could be forced to act. Many wars in history have been initiated by a weaker power that feels threatened. Note that President Trump sent an additional 14,000 troops to Saudi Arabia last spring and has helped the Saudis improve their air defenses as Saudi Arabia and UAE have worked together to contain the Iranian threat.
The Trump administration has placed sanctions on Iran and has worked with allies to isolate the Iranian economy which is expect to shrink by 9 percent while its currency weakens and inflation rises to over 40 percent. The Iranian government has trouble exporting oil as well. The economy is failing and now protests are springing up around the country. For these reasons Iran could be provoking the Saudis with missile strikes and attacks on Saudi troops in Yemen in a civil war right on the southern border of Saudi Arabia.
